What should Susan Lucci do next ? After All My Children was canceled

With this week's announcement by ABC that two of its three remaining daytime soaps, One Life to Live and All My Children, have been cancelled. (CBS) Losing a job - and a job playing deliciously evil Erica Kane at that - after 41 years has to be difficult. Susan Lucci seems to be taking the cancellation of "All My Children" pretty well.

"It's been a fantastic journey," said Lucci in a statement.

So what should the Queen of Grace During Emmy Defeat do now that she’s lost her day job?

ABC still has one other daytime serial -- General Hospital -- and the other two original U.S. broadcast networks are hanging onto a few others -- NBC has one, Days of Our Lives, and CBS has a pair, The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless -- but there's little doubt that Thursday's announcement is an indicator that those shows are headed for the TV boneyard. Other stars and former stars of the soaps are making their feeling known, too. "This is like losing a member of your family," said Kelly Ripa, according to Deadline. Ripa was a cast member and met her husband, castmate Mark Consuelos, on the show.
