The captain of a Boeing 777 from Brussels to Newark, NJ has died mid-flight. A cardiologist who examined a dead pilot aboard a trans-Atlantic flight to New Jersey says he suspects a heart attack killed him.
According to Continental, the plane landed at Newark at 12:02 p.m. EDT, or 11:02 a.m. CDT. WPIX quoted Continental as saying that the captain was 61 years old, had worked 21 years for Continental and was based at Newark.
He apparently died of natural cases, the airline said.
The Boeing 777 was carrying 247 passengers, meaning that the 285-seat airplane was about 87 percent full.
